A bear in western Wisconsin was freed after spending more than a week with its head trapped in a jar, surviving by burning its fat stores and dunking its head underwater to drink through punctures in the jar.

A bear observed with its head stuck in a plastic container in Bayfield, Douglas and Sawyer counties of northern Wisconsin is now free, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

Veterinarians examined the cubs and estimate they're 6 to 7 months old. The bears were found in a residential neighborhood in Calaveras County.

The orphaned siblings, approximately 6 to 7 months old, had been seen wandering alone in a neighborhood in Calaveras County for several days.

Three orphaned black bear cubs found wandering alone in a Calaveras County neighborhood are now being rehabilitated at the San Diego Humane Society’s Ramona Wildlife Center, which is currently the only facility in California accepting black bear cubs for care.

Kennedy said in a video posted Sunday he had dumped the dead bear cub in Central Park in 2014 and staged it to look like a bicycle accident.
