The American Meteor Society has received numerous reports of a fireball over the US Southeast on Thursday afternoon, according to reports from around the region posted on their website.

A possible meteorite was spotted shooting through the sky in the southeast U.S. on Thursday. The National Weather Service office in Charleston said there were "many reports of a fireball" across the region just before noon.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said it found multiple bright flashes of light during the day on Thursday on its lightning flash tracker.
