Tropical Storm Sara, a disorganized mass of rain and thunderstorms, was slowly meandering along the northern coast of Honduras on Friday morning, after making landfall near the Honduras-Nicaragua border late Thursday.

Tropical Storm Sara formed this afternoon and threatens to bring "life-threatening and potentially catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides" to Honduras throughout the weekend, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center. A turn toward Florida is still possible, forecasters said.

Families were evacuated from their homes in La Ceiba, Honduras, early on Friday as Tropical Storm Sara lashed the country with heavy rain that could bring life-threatening flooding and landslides.
