National Guard members deployed to D.C. to combat "lawlessness" will remain until late September, according to a leaked memo.

President Donald Trump said Monday he is placing Washington, DC’s, police department “under direct federal control” and deploying National Guard troops to the nation’s capital, citing a public safety emergency after an assault on a former government worker.

Trump also announced he will nominate conservative economist E.J. Antoni to lead be Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner, after firing the previous agency head.
