California's deadly wildfires could come to an end in the coming days when a weekend storm douses historically dry terrain, but the storm will come with the potential for a different problem: flash floods.

On Friday at 2:36 p.m. an updated winter storm watch was issued by the NWS Las Vegas NV valid from Saturday 10 a.m. until Monday 10 p.m. The watch is for Eastern Sierra Slopes of Inyo County, Owens Valley and White Mountains of Inyo County.

Flights have been delayed, roads closed and ferry services cancelled as 100mph winds pose a danger to life in parts of the UK on Friday morning. Rail services and flights have been axed, with rare red weather warnings issued for Scotland and Northern Ireland as Storm Eowyn is likely to damage buildings,

Northern Ireland has been battered by severe weather conditions this week, and that weather outlook is set to continue throughout the weekend. A new weather warning for ice and snow has been issued by the Met Office this morning,

The Met Office has issued an urgent update on a previously issued red alert as Storm Eowyn causes mass chaos across the UK with widespread travel disruptions and school closures. Red wind warnings are in effect in Northern Ireland until 2pm on Friday and in western central and southern areas of Scotland until 5pm.
