Hundreds of West Virginia National Guard members will deploy across the nation’s capital as part of the Trump administration’s effort to overhaul policing in Washington through a federal crackdown on crime and homelessness.

Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, was killed in a drive-by shooting on the evening of June 30 while undertaking a summer internship at a congressman’s office in the nation’s capital.

The administration said this week that since the federal police takeover was put in place, hundreds have been arrested, and dozens of firearms have been confiscated.
