Now that the dust has settled around the Dallas Cowboys promoting Brian Schottenheimer from being Mike McCarthy's offensive coordinator to his successor, both Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman and current starter Dak Prescott are ready to weigh in on the hire.

SCHOTTENHEIMER JOINED THE Cowboys as a consultant in 2022. He primarily worked with then-defensive coordinator Dan Quinn on offensive tendencies of upcoming opponents, and Prescott introduced himself early on. They had some friends in common and just talked football.

It’s a new era for the Dallas Cowboys. Mike McCarthy is no longer the head coach after five seasons. Three consecutive playoff appearances sandwiched in between two losing seasons without QB Dak Prescott for most of the season wasn’t enough to bring him back.
