Friends, family and fans of Afa Ah Loo — who was shot and killed during a protest — clapped and hooted Friday for each of his creations that others helped finish after his death.

Ah Loo and Powell were working on an upcoming August fashion show when he died. Powell said “the show will continue” and honor Ah Loo’s unwavering vision for his community.
Ah Loo also co-founded Creative Pacific, a nonprofit that supports Pacific Islander artists and designers. The organisation was set to host a fashion show at the end of July, according to NBC News.
Ah Loo had also recently designed an outfit for Hawaiian actor Auliʻi Cravalho, who is the star of “Moana 2.” She wore that outfit on the red carpet premiere for the film in November.
