Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal have not swooped for Eberechi Eze because Kai Havertz has suffered a knee injury. Havertz has been dealing with a knee issue since last Sunday’s game at Old Trafford, which Arsenal won 1-0.

The Gunners have outmanoeuvred rivals Tottenham to secure the services of Eze, although no official announcement has been made at the time of writing. Arsenal have snatched Eze right under Spurs' nose, but the England international is not expected to feature at the Emirates on Saturday.

Arsenal have been unable to complete a deal for Eberechi Eze by the midday cut-off which means the winger cannot make his debut for the Gunners until next week's clash at Liverpool
