The LEGO F1 cars that made a splash during the Miami GP drivers’ parade are not just a spectacle—they’re a feat of engineering and creativity. These life-size LEGO models, driven by the F1 drivers during the parade, were an instant hit, but the numbers behind their construction are even more jaw-dropping.

Rain, racing, celebrities, even Lego Formula 1 car replicas (that actually ran) all made their appearances Sunday at the Miami International Autodrome before McLaren dominated the day on the track.

For the drivers’ parade this year, instead of riding on the back of flatbed trucks, the 20 drivers worked their way around the Miami International Autodrome in fully drivable and team-branded LEGO “big build cars” that replaced the flatbed parade trucks you usually see before a race.
