Wisconsin election officials are launching an investigation into how nearly 200 absentee ballots went uncounted in Madison.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission on Thursday ordered an investigation into why nearly 200 absentee ballots cast in Madison in the Nov. 5 election were not counted. The review marks the agency's first formal investigation since the commission was formed in 2016 and will seek to compile a complete record of what occurred in Madison during the 2024 election that resulted in 193 uncounted absentee ballots.
