CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — Sitting in the middle of the Cortina course following her second fall in four days at the resort where she once dominated, Lindsey Vonn slammed the snow angrily with her right pole.

Federica Brignone became the oldest woman to win a World Cup super-G race, capping an Italian double win weekend at home in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the 2026 Olympic women’s Alpine skiing host site. Brignone, 34, prevailed by 58 hundredths of a second over 2022 Olympic gold medalist Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland.

Italy's Federica Brignone won the super-G race at Cortina on Sunday, her first World Cup win at the Italian course extending her overall lead, while Lindsey Vonn gave the crowd a scare when crashing out on the third sector but emerged unharmed.

The second downhill of the winter is coming up in St. Anton. As always, Lara Gut-Behrami is one of the favorites. After the strong super-G in St. Moritz, Lindsey Vonn will also be making her comeback in the downhill.

Vonn finished 1.68 behind Goggia. The American standout returned to the circuit last month when she finished 14th in a super-G in St. Moritz. Then she placed sixth and fourth in a downhill and a super-G, respectively, in St. Anton, Austria, last weekend.
