At least 46 people died and more than 200 were missing following sudden, heavy rain in Indian Kashmir, officials said on Thursday, the second such disaster in the Himalayas in a little over a week.

A massive cloudburst in India's Jammu and Kashmir region on Thursday triggered a flash flood and landslides leading to the deaths of at least 37 people, with more than 100 injured, according to news reports.

A large makeshift kitchen — where there were more than 100 pilgrims who were not registered with local authorities — was completely washed away.
