India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was on Monday named the new captain of Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming edition of IPL.

Stylish wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant captained Delhi Capitals (DC) starting in 2021 and led the team throughout the 2022 and 2024 seasons.

Lucknow Super Giants unveiled Rishabh Pant as the new captain for the franchise ahead of the 2025 edition of the IPL. Pant, who played at No 3 for India in the T20 World Cup, might be one of the possible opening options for Lucknow given the lack of designated openers in the squad.

Newly-appointed Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant revealed a big quality he has picked up from India skipper Rohit Sharma.

Besides owner Sanjiv Goenka explaining rationale behind appoint Rishabh Pant as LSG’s captain, the Indian cricketer also shared his captaincy mantra and possible approach towards teammates. Pant was bought for Rs 27 crore by LSG in IPL 2025 auction.

Goenka expects Rishabh Pant to play for LSG for the next "14-15 years" and win "at least five IPLs". The comparisons with Dhoni and Rohit were unmissable.
