Sacramento County deputies are in a standoff with an unarmed person at a home in the Rosemont area, the sheriff's office said.
(Photo via L.A. County Fire Department) VERNON (CBSLA) - A fire at a lumber yard in Vernon damaged more than 100 unused railroad ties Friday, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the fire.
The lumber yard's grand opening will be held Aug. 29 and 30 and will feature a hot dog stand, a charity chicken barbecue, and giveaways including Buffalo Bills tickets and a Dewalt drill kit.
The price of framing lumber, which is used for building, is currently about $1,300 per 1,000 board feet, up from $500 per 1,000 board feet in December. Lumber yards are offering similar advice.
