Pakistan’s disastrous Champions Trophy 2025 campaign ended in embarrassment, with Kamran Akmal stating they didn’t “deserve” representation at the ICC prize distribution ceremony.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for successfully hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. It was Pakistan's first global cricket tournament in nearly two decades (since 1996) and was played across three venues - Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for “successfully hosting” the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy. In a press release, the global governing body of the sport also thanked the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) for the staging of India’s matches of the tournament.

Pakistan is hosting their first major cricket event in almost three decades, but a compromise of the Champions Trophy has meant that the final will be played in Dubai.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was originally meant to be part of the presentation after the final, but the host board said he was unwell and unable to travel to Dubai

An ICC spokesperson clarified why there were no PCB representatives at the trophy ceremony for the Champions Trophy.
