Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted a video Friday revealing the new name for a navy oil ship previously named after Harvey Milk. Hegseth announced at the start of Pride Month that the USNS Harvey Milk was to be renamed.

Defense Secretary and former Fox host Pete Hegseth said several weeks ago that the Navy supply vessel formerly known as the USNS Harvey Milk would get a new name because Milk was a gay civil rights leader. And he just announced the new name on social media.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the new name for the naval ship USNS Harvey Milk will be the USNS Oscar V. Peterson. "We are taking the politics out of ship naming," Hegseth said in a statement to officially announce the name change.
