The BSE Sensex, which was trading flattish earlier, shed 354.36 points, or 0.44 per cent, to 80,392.42. Nifty traded at 24,264, down 150.40 points or 0.62 per cent. India VIX soared 10.16 per cent to 21 level.

Indian benchmark indices ended in the red on Thursday's trading session. While Sensex dipped 411.97 points or 0.51% to close at 80,334.81, Nifty on the other hand settled at 24,273.80, down 140.60 points or 0.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a negative start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 24,412 level, a discount of nearly 49 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
