John Cena needed a little assistance, but he ultimately put pen to paper on his WWE Championship Match against Cody Rhodes Friday night on SmackDown.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlePurists ), WWE's original plans called for the WWE Championship bout between John Cena and Cody Rhodes to be the main event of Night 2, potentially with the inclusion of a stipulation.
