State lawmakers believe now is the time to clean up a mess that they say the federal government just keeps ignoring.
The City of Santa Fe believes technology is ShotSpotter sensors. The companies say those sensors are placed on top of buildings or streetlamps, and can accurately detect where a gunshot was fired.
"The Motor Vehicle Division portion of the bill is to stop MVD from selling data to anybody who would be using it for immigration purposes," Sen. Antoinette Sedillo Lopez said.
