Annabelle became a household name in 2014 when a horror film followed the story of a doll that became possessed, haunting a couple nearly to their death. Now, the real doll that inspired the movie and its sequels — also called Annabelle — is in the spotlight.

The sudden death of a 54-year-old man who was on tour with Annabelle, said to be the world’s most haunted doll, is being mourned by the paranormal world.

Paranormal expert Dan Rivera died July 13 after showcasing the haunted Annabelle doll to a sold-out Devils on the Run tour audience in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Working with the New England Society of Psychic Research (NESPR), Rivera had taken the doll and other haunted items around the country, starting in May, including a stop in San Antonio .
