The White House is defending the National Weather Service and accusing some Democrats of playing politics in the wake of devastating floods in Texas.

"This was an act of God. It is not the administration's fault that the flood hit when it did," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Monday, noting that the NWS "did its job" by sending "early and consistent warnings."

Authorities leading the search for victims of the devastating flooding in Texas deflected intensifying questions Tuesday about who was responsible for monitoring the weather that killed more than 100 people and warning that flash floods were barreling toward camps and homes.
