The Scottish Open has become one of the big events on the golf schedule ever since it became a partner event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, as the best players from both tours come together for a chance to play some links golf in preparation for the Open Championship a week later.
Paired with European captain Luke Donald in the opening two rounds on Scotland’s Golf Coast, the Cornishmen handled his audition superbly, following an opening 67 with a 64 to have Gotterup in his sights heading into the weekend in the $9 million Rolex Series event.
Round 2 of the Scottish Open begins Friday. The tee times start at 2 AM ET. The first round was intriguing with Top 10 golfer Sepp Straka finishing 6-under par on the day. Straka, Nico Echavarria, Jake Knapp and Victor Perez all shared the same score, marking the first time the Scottish Open had multiple leaders since joining the PGA Tour in 2022.
Rory McIlroy didn't get off to a good start in the first round of the Scottish Open, but he managed to overcome the issue and stay in contention.
Sepp Straka had eight birdies in his round of 64, also joined by Nico Echavarria and Victor Perez atop the leaderboard alongside Knapp. Four other players were one shot behind, while Scottie Scheffler had to settle for a 67 and was three back.
