The event in the city’s Woodstock Road came ahead of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Four generations of the royal family have paid tribute to Second World War veterans in a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Buckingham Palace’s famous balcony hosted the royal family’s VE Day commemorations 80 years after King George VI first marked the Second World War’s end from the same spot.
