May 16, 2012 · It would seem you only arrive to the Grand canyon the day you leave towards Mesa Verde. [?] If thats the case you wouldn't [or at least I wouldn't] want to have to leave the canyon too early and take on a long drive. Outside of the east entrance is the Cameron Trading post which are the closest lodgings outside of the park.

Jan 21, 2014 · The entire drive from Mesa Verde to the Grand Canyon will be through the Navajo Nation. Tourist facilities will be few and far between. Your best bet from both a timing and availability standpoint is probably Kayenta at the junction of US-160 and US-163.

Mar 20, 2009 · The most efficient route from Seattle to the Grand Canyon also happens to be quite scenic, but will take at least 2½ days to drive, so plan on 3 if you want to stop at a few places en route. The drive is I-90/I-82/I-84 southeast to Salt Lake City, then I-15 south to just south of Beaver, UT.

Apr 2, 2007 · Grand canyon to Yosemite might also be tough to do in one day, two might be best, but again, it will be all driving. For a return route, I would go back down Arizona 64 to Interstate 40, and take Interstate 40 West to Barstow, CA where it becomes California 58 on to Bakersfield.

Mar 21, 2006 · Me and my fiance have decided to spend about 10 days travelling from Atlanta to The Grand Canyon this Spring Break. Has anyone out there ever made a comparable trek (basically I-40W from Memphis)? I'm looking for some good stops along I-40, especially through Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. I've never seen NM, and I hear it's spectacular.

Jul 11, 2007 · Drive to Sedona via Oak Creek Canyon turn around and go back to Flagstaff. Take I-40 west to Williams (nice town) and continue west on I-40. At Seligman, switch to Route 66 and drive to Kingman. The Grand Canyon Caverns, which is between Seligman and Kingman, is a fun tour but it costs money. Continue Route 66 to Needles passing through Oatman.
