Judge Lina Hidalgo is the head of Harris County’s governing body. She is the first woman to be elected County Judge and only the second to be elected to the Commissioners Court. Harris County is the third largest county in our nation.

Judge Hidalgo recognizes civic celebrations, county employee retirements, and notable causes in Harris County. She also honors individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to Harris County.

By working with the Harris County Office of Sustainability and holding listening sessions throughout the community, Harris County created the Climate Justice Action Plan that will focus on five key pillars going forward: ecology, infrastructure, economy, community, and culture.

County Judge Lina Hidalgo is taking action to make Harris County a better place to live and work for everyone by fighting for fair pay and treatment on the job for the most vulnerable workers contributing to our economy, and ensuring that immigrant families looking for a better life are treated with dignity and respect.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has been opening the doors to county government by initiating the County's first-ever open transition process and taking action to make governing more accessible to everyone.

One of County Judge Lina Hidalgo’s first accomplishments in office was to commission an independent review of the County’s emergency response systems to continuously improve, identify, and fill in the gaps when it comes to responding to future disasters.
